Winter Days

I have not posted in a while and I felt like I should. The 3 of us have been keeping busy and warm. I hear that this winter in Iowa has been unusually harsh. It really doesn't seem too bad. It is cold but we are managing.

It seems like so long since Christmas but not much has happened. Kambree is still trying to crawl. I guess I am looking forward to when she can meet another milestone but at the same time, she is SO busy and into things now, I can't imagine what my day will look like when she is truely mobile.

She is such a sweetie. We will go in for her 6 month check up tomorrow. The time has gone so quickly and she is so different. I look at her newborn pictures and think of how far she has come. I am hoping that she is about 13 lbs at her appointment but I am not good at guessing. She seems heavier and she eats lots of food. I think she must have a hollow leg. She loves baby food and eats almost anything we give her. She doesn't like anything chunky or that has a texture other then smooth mush. She is so dramatic if she tastes something with a new texture!

We have been to lots of basketball games this month and Kambree loves them. She watches the boys run back and forth but her favorite are the dancers and cheerleaders. No matter what she is doing, she will stop and watch them until they are finished dancing. She manages to nap during the games when she is not socializing with everyone around her. Kyle's team is tied for first in the conference. Tomorrow they play the team they are tied with so it will be a big game. Of course Kambree will be there in her Grand View clothes (thanks Grammy Patti).

Kambree loves to play with anything she can put in her mouth. She is so silly and laughs all day long. She has a very short attention span so we have to keep rotating toys and changing position all the time.

She has spent lots of time with her new friends. She gets together with Jaxon, Hannah, and Haven every week. They are so funny to watch. they are all the same age and still so different.

Kambree is going to start swimming lessons next week. Actually, mom is going to have mommy time at the pool with her friends. I hope it's not too cold for both our sake's! We got a little 2 piece bathing suit for her-it is SO cute on her. I hear that the lessons are just a time for the babies to get in the water and play and splash and get used to it. They don't learn anything until they are 18 months old but it should be fun.

Funny Kambree

Kambree has been copying us lately. She always laughes when we do this to her. She is trying to do it with Kyle. (I can't explain, you'll have to watch the video) She is also watching us eat and chewing at the same time as we do. She looks like she is chewing gum all the time. She will stick her tongue out at you if you do it to her. She is so funny!

We are trying to teach her sign language so she will copy us with something useful. She is learning things like 'milk' and 'more'. We are also going to teach her to blow kisses. Hopefully the next time you see her, she can blow you one.

She is starting to give hugs and kisses. She will bend over and bury her head in your chest for hugs and of course open wide and give you a big wet kiss!

This is my grandparent post. I wanted to put up some new pictures for Kambree's grandparents to see. I guess the only new news is that Kambree is sitting up by herself. She is getting so big! She is trying so hard to crawl. She can hold herself up on her knees and hands and rocks back and forth but so far she hasn't moved. I don't know if I should be excited that she is learning new things or sad that she is getting so big. Her hair is starting to grow more. It is not quite as fuzzy and is getting thicker and longer everyday. She seems to be putting on some weight, I don't know, I'm with her every day. I think her face looks chubbier. We will go back to the Dr. at the end of January so we'll find out if all that baby food is doing her any good. So far she hasn't tried anything she doesn't like except pickle juice. She even tried a lemon and seemed to like it. I hope that means she is not going to be a picky eater.

Kambree got caught peeking in her presents on Christmas Eve. It was so cute I got it on video. It is certain that she is related to Grammy Joni and Aunt Laura.

Kambree's first Christmas was great!

Christmas 2008

Kambree loved the lights on the Christmas tree and really didn't want to touch anything on it. She was interested in all the colors and designes on the gifts. She would get so excited to look at them. I think I am lucky she can't crawl yet!

We took Kambree to midnight mass, which has been our tradition for years. She did not like having to get out of bed at all. She finally fell asleep during the service. She looked so beautiful in her Christmas dress. She even had a pretty red and black coat to wear with it.

Kambree is so social and loves talking to everyone. I was not worried at all to take her to see Santa. She was fed and just up from a nap, she was going to give mom a great picture with Santa! As soon as we set her in his arms, she cried. We could not believe it. He was so nice and talking to her and playing with her....no way. She didn't like him. Oh well, I guess everyone gets the crying picture of Santa, right!?

Christmas morning was pretty normal for us. Kambree got up around 7:30. She had breakfast and then we showed her all of the things Santa brought. She opened 1 present by herself and that was about enough for her. She was very interested in what was under the wrapping so that was fun. She made out like a little bandit this year. She got lots of clothes and toys. Kyle gave her a care bear that he got just from him. Melissa gave her a jewlery box for all of her jewlery. After everything was opened, she was buried in all the paper and gifts. It was quite a sight. She had so much fun playing with the paper and listening to it crunch in her hands. She had to taste all of her new things. I guess they passed the taste test.

The best part of the day was when we got a special gift from Kambree. She thought of it all by herself and didn't have to spend any of her allowance on it....she gave us a 2 1/2 hour nap. Kyle and I napped right along with her. It was GREAT! What a thoughtful girl. She knew exactly what we needed/wanted for Christmas.

Funny Pictures of Kambree

Here are some of our fun times with Kambree. We work together during the day. She loves being out and about and knows just what kind of clothes she likes. Kambree loves bath time and having coffee with dad in the morning....not really, but it sure looks like it!

Thanksgiving

Kambree's first Thanksgiving was spent in Salt Lake City with Kyle and his basketball team. We had lots of fun sharing our food with her. She got to try sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie, and she even sucked on the green beans. She loved it all.

Grandparents
Kyle's parents came down to visit and spend time with Kambree. It was so fun to see them and they just had the best time with her.

More Family
When we got home from SLC, we were met by Aunt Erin, Uncle Charlie, Dylon, Heidi and Gram. We spent the week visiting and having fun. Kambree got her first pedi from her gram and spent lots of time playing and being held.
